• Considérant que le Canada se veut un chef de file en matière d’égalité entre les hommes et les femmes;
  
• Considérant que dans l’ère du mouvement #moiaussi et face aux inégalités persistantes, il est nécessaire de prendre un moment d’arrêt, de réflexion et de conscientisation sur la situation des femmes au Canada et dans le monde;
  
• Considérant l’importance de reconnaître l’apport des femmes à notre société et de souligner leurs réalisations et initiatives;
  
• Considérant l’effet bénéfique pour toutes de mettre en lumière des modèles féminins inspirants;
  
• Considérant que le 8 mars, « Journée internationale des droits des femmes » est un moment privilégié pour partager, rendre visible et accessible l’histoire des femmes;
  
• Considérant qu’il est essentiel de poursuivre les luttes pour les droits de toutes les femmes;
  
• Considérant que la 5e édition de la Marche mondiale des femmes aura lieu en 2020;
  
• Considérant que dans 30 pays le 8 mars est un congé férié;
  
• Considérant qu’au Canada, plusieurs conventions collectives et contrats de travail incluent déjà la journée du 8 mars comme congé férié;
  

Parce qu’il est temps de passer de la parole aux gestes :

Info-Femmes, appuyé par des citoyennes et des citoyens, demande au Gouvernement du Canada de faire du 8 mars de chaque année un jour férié, chômé et payé afin d’être le premier pays en Amérique du Nord à permettre un temps d’arrêt pour une réelle reconnaissance de la place des femmes dans la société.

Depuis 1980, Info-Femmes est une ressource essentielle, ancrée sur le territoire de Mercier-Est (Montréal, Québec, Canada) et détenant une expertise en condition féminine. Chaque année, ce sont des centaines de femmes qui font appel à nos services et participent à nos activités éducatives en vue d’accroître leur propre pouvoir et leur autonomie. Acteur de changement incontournables, nous sommes des généralistes, travaillant en prévention et en sensibilisation, afin d’améliorer les conditions de vie des femmes.

La Journée internationale des femmes est un jour férié dans les pays suivants:

• Considering that Canada wants to be a leader in the field of equality between women and men;
  
• Considering that, in this era of the #metoo movement and in the face of persistent inequalities, it is necessary to stop and take a moment to reflect and raise awareness about the situation of women in Canada and around the world;
  
• Considering the importance of recognizing women’s contribution to our society and of highlighting their achievements and initiatives;
  
• Considering the benefits for all of bringing to light inspiring feminine role models;
  
• Considering that March 8th, “International Women’s Rights Day”, is a privileged moment to share women’s history, as well as to make it visible and accessible;
  
• Considering that it is essential to continue to fight for the rights of all women;
  
• Considering that the 5th edition of the World March of Women will be held in 2020;
  
• Considering that March 8th is a statutory holiday in 30 countries;
  
• Considering that, in Canada, many collective agreements and employment contracts already include March 8th as a statutory holiday;
  

Info-Femmes, supported by citizens, is asking the Government of Canada to make March 8th an annual paid statutory holiday and in so doing, become the first North American country to truly acknowledge the role of women in our society.

Since 1980, Info-Femmes has become a key resource, well established in the Mercier-Est area (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) with an expertise in the conditions of women. Each year, hundreds of women use our services and participate in our educational activities, in order to increase their own power and autonomy. A key player of change, we are generalists, working in prevention and awareness, to make real improvements in the living conditions of women.

International Women’s Day is a statutory holiday in the following countries:
