⚠️ For the removal of electric, vibrating and choke collars from Decathlon shelves To the attention of Decathlon management⚠️
We ask Decathlon to remove from its shelves electric collars, coercive vibrating collars and choke collars, and to exclusively promote equipment that respects the well-being and physical and emotional integrity of dogs.
Current scientific knowledge is clear: coercive methods and tools cause pain, fear, stress and distress, and their effects can extend beyond the moment of their use.
Studies on coercive and painful education methods show, in particular, an exacerbation of stress-related behaviours and serious consequences on the psychological, emotional state and well-being of dogs. They are also associated with an increased resurgence of fear, avoidance and undesirable behaviours. Not to mention the intolerable pain and physical damage associated with them.
These tools do not constitute an educational method but a method of domination through fear and suffering. France has also taken an important step in July 2025. Since July 3, 2025, the decree of June 19, 2025 prohibits, for the relevant professional activities, the use and teaching of methods and tools likely to inflict injuries, suffering, pain, stress or fear on animals, specifically mentioning electric collars and choke collars.
It is therefore incoherent that tools recognized as likely to generate suffering, pain, fear and stress can still be offered to the general public as ordinary dog training accessories.
A dog's education should never rely on fear or pain. Today, there are methods and equipment that allow for training, guiding and securing dogs without resorting to coercion.
We therefore ask Decathlon to take a stand in favour of a modern, ethical approach that respects animal welfare, and to remove electric collars, coercive vibrating collars and choke collars from sale, in order to no longer normalise their use among the general public.

Every signature counts. Together, let’s ask Decathlon to evolve its offerings and contribute to a practice of dog training based on understanding, cooperation and respect, rather than on pain, fear or coercion. Quelle horreur !
