I am writing to you because I have a heavy heart and immense anger that has not subsided since I read about what happened in Viane on Friday, April 17, 2026. How can we reach such a point in France today? More than 300 living beings, sheep, ducks, rabbits, chickens, were literally abandoned to a slow and horrific death among the corpses of their companions. The volunteers who discovered this mass grave speak of a true horror film and I can hardly imagine the terror and suffering of these animals dying without a drop of water or a single grain of food.
What scandalises me above all is the unbearable inertia of the health services. The alert was given immediately by the association, but the state services waited until Monday, April 20 to go to the site. Three days of delay is an eternity when you are dying of hunger, and it is especially a precious time given to the owner to try to hide the horror. We learn that the operator took advantage of this delay to clean up the site and move animals as if we could erase traces of cruelty so easily. Fortunately, photos and videos exist to testify to the reality of this ordeal, but that is no longer enough.
We cannot allow this crime to go unpunished or to get lost in administrative delays. We are calling today on the Prefect of Tarn and the Public Prosecutor of Albi to take exemplary and immediate measures. This man must never again have the right to approach an animal and justice must be of absolute firmness to punish this act of barbarism through negligence. The passivity of the health authorities in this case must also be highlighted because this three-day delay is a serious fault that prolonged the agony of the survivors.
Sign this petition to show that we are thousands who refuse to allow such places of torture to exist in our countryside. We demand the immediate safeguarding of all rescued animals and a conviction that finally serves as an example. For the victims of Viane and for all the animals that still suffer in silence behind the walls of forgotten farms, we demand justice now. Every signature is a cry for those who no longer have the strength to moan.
