Throwing your dog alive into a bin and being able to adopt another two years later: what kind of justice can tolerate such a farce?
In Majorca, a man committed an act of absolute cruelty: he threw his sick and severely injured Setter Greyhound into a garbage bin to get rid of it. The animal, discovered just in time by garbage collectors, suffered from multiple wounds, muscle atrophy, and had lost the use of one eye.
Convicted in the first instance, this individual saw his sentence reduced on appeal in the summer of 2026: his ban on owning an animal was reduced from three to only two years.
This decision is an unbearable affront to animal protection. Two years of prohibition for condemning a sentient being to a slow death in the rubbish is giving a license to reoffend to a torturer.
An individual capable of such cruelty must NEVER approach an animal again
Abandoning a living animal in a container is not a mere misstep: it is the proof of a cold-bloodedness and total contempt for life. The temporary ban is an illusion of punishment that directly endangers other animals as soon as the period expires.
In the face of such blatant cruelty, the only just and safe response is a permanent ban.
What we are asking for:
The automatic imposition of a PERMANENT and LIFETIME ban on owning an animal for anyone who commits acts of cruelty or abandonment that endanger the life of the animal.
The impossibility of reducing the duration of ownership bans during appeal procedures for cases of aggravated mistreatment.
The actual and firm enforcement of prison sentences for intentional acts of cruelty, without the possibility of reduction or adjustment of the sentence in exchange for mere financial compensation.
Why sign this petition?
Reducing a ban after such an act sends a catastrophic signal: that the life of an animal is worthless and that barbarism fades with time. We demand strong laws that permanently protect animals from abusers.
