No to the abandonment of pets of expatriates in the United Arab Emirates.

We, citizens and expatriates residing in the United Arab Emirates, issue an urgent call against the dramatic increase in pet abandonment.

Since the outbreak of the war in Iran, many expatriates have been leaving the country in haste, abandoning their companions. Hundreds of animals are being left behind in the UAE and other Gulf countries.

The causes are multiple:

• Some airlines refuse to transport animals,
  
• Others impose exorbitant fees,
  
• Panic and the urgency of departures worsen the situation.
  

Owning a pet is not entertainment, but a moral and emotional responsibility. Pets depend entirely on us for their survival and well-being.

We demand:

1. That public authorities implement protection and shelter measures for abandoned animals.
   
2. That airlines adopt more humane and accessible policies for animal transport.
   
3. That the expatriate community take responsibility and not abandon their companions.
   

Political leaders, associations, and citizens must mobilize to prevent this silent crisis. Together, let us protect our companions and refuse abandonment.
