The children’s ward at Dorset County Hospital is at risk of a major overhaul of the county’s healthcare services. A document suggests that children who need specialist assessment and care would be treated at a major hospital in east Dorset - and not at Dorset County. It is recommended that instead of being admitted to hospital ‘the care of children could be delivered in a different and more effective way. Please sign this petition to save the children's ward at Dorset county hospital. My son George and many more children are living with a life threatening illness and rely on the open access of the kingfisher ward. Without this, parents fear the worst for their children. We moved from Weymouth to Dorchester to be near the hospital for George's needs. George has a limited amount of time to reach a hospital during a long seizure and to be moving him 30 miles away every time is so not called for, our children suffer enough, why add to it! Also the special care unit is also at threat!! Please help and sign this petition!

Although she was supervised by Southampton, my daughter who has many allergies and intolerances spent a lot of time on Kingfisher; she could not have had the same relatively stress-free and family oriented care miles away. My younger daughter's life was saved by an emergency operation and then the care she recieved on Kingfisher ward after an adverse reaction to the anaesthetic. Please save this important resource for the benefit of other children.

please dont close this ward i have had 20 years of being within this ward on a personal level and its a fantastic place for children and for parents. the staff and doctors could not do a better job on this ward plus if it closes what will the people on say portland or places that are remote and the closest hospital is dorchester childrens ward. if this ward closes you will not only be making it hard for familys but the likely hood of more children dying as they can not get the service close to home. i think this is disgraceful and discusting that they would even consider this let alone do it what is happerning to the nhs. also what about the six c there is no care or compation about this at all.

Closing any children's wards is wrong. Children need to be treated as close to home as possible.
